Brigus & Winery Tour
Travel with us as we travel North West of St. John's to Brigus and then on to Whitburne. This tours combines visits to two attractions, with country drive. You will also receive history on Newfoundland and St. John's along the way.
Hawthorne Cottage: Offers a glimpse into the life of Captain Robert Bartlett, whose scientific voyages made him a significant figure in the history of Arctic exploration. In 1908, Bartlett was captain of the ship which took Robert E. Peary to the North Pole. Built in 1830, Hawthorne Cottage is one of the few remaining intact examples of the picturesque or cottage orné style of architecture in Newfoundland.
Rodrigues Winery: From humble beginnings in 1993 with hand filtering, bottling, and corking the wine to produce the first shipment of 300 cases for the Newfoundland Liquor Commission, the Rodrigues Winery undertook a major $300,000 expansion in 1998. The production capacity is now 28,000 cases annually and permits export to new Canadian and International Markets.
